Buzzsaws Travelling 1,500 Miles - accepting baseball equipment donations

Post date: Sep 11, 2012 8:18:37 PM

The Summit County Buzzsaws will be taking the phrase "travel baseball team" to a new standard by traveling 1,500 miles to the Dominican Republic in October, 2012 for an exhibition tournament.  The team will take a group of 13 and 14 year old players for a 5 day trip that will take them to Caleta, Hato Mayor, Hatilo and Consuelo.  During the trip, they will also have an opportunity to visit a Hatian refugee village to interact with the people and provide some much needed donations of clothing and other items.  We will be accepting donations of used baseball equipment.   We are specifically accepting used mitts, cleats, bats and baseballs for this trip.  Donations can be dropped off at 1531 Commerce Drive, Stow.  We operate by appointment so we don't have set hours but we are there most evenings. If you want to be sure that someone will be there, you can send a text message to Coach Dante at (330) 714-0252 or special arrangements can be made.  Of course, we will also accept financial contributions that will be donated directly to the ministry.  Check can be made to "Meeting God in Baseball and is fully tax deductible.

This trip is through the mission organization called Meeting God in Baseball and is the first annual trip as part of the "player exchange program" of the Summit County Buzzsaws.  Earlier this year, Bernie Carrion Mercedes came to the United States and played the season with the 14u Buzzsaws team.  Click here to read more about it.  Each fall, a team of players will visit the Dominican Republic to play in an exhibition tournament and have an opportunity to be exposed to the mission work of  Meeting God in Baseball (www.meetinggodinbaseball.org).  In our first year, we will be taking 5 players and 6 adults and we will be joined by 6 or 7 Dominican players to complete our team for the games.
