I want to congratulate Play Ball Sports Academy pitching student Brian Malerick on an outstanding junior season at Hudson High School.  Brian led the Explorers to the regional semi-finals of the Division I state playoffs.  Brian posted a 10-0 record for the Explorers in 2012 in setting a new school record for wins.  He ended the season with a 1.52 ERA, with an opponent batting average of only .232.  Brian struck out 47 batters in 55 1/3 innings.

Several highlights of his season include; defeating Twinsburg in the District semi-finals, including previously unbeaten pitcher Scott Effross; defeating Medina  7-1 in the sectional finals; beating Mayfield 1-0 by pitching 8 innings of shutout baseball versus Mayfield ace Matt Iosue.

Brian worked with instructor Jimmy Summers starting in September, 2011 to help him with the transition from Junior Varsity to Varsity baseball.  Jimmy and Brian worked on his velocity, his breaking pitch, change up and his mental approach to the game.   Brian also was one of the hardest working students in the off-season by dedicating himself to his weight lifting, running and other strength building regimens.
